Dundee’s reputation as an international centre of medical excellence is to be bolstered by a world-beating study into the most appropriate treatment for the pain of arthritis. A £26m survey led by the city’s university and funded by Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant, will attempt to establish how a new drug in the marketplace, Celecoxib, compares in terms of safety with older and more established painkillers.
