    Most drugs have at least two names. One is the 'generic' name, which is the officially approved one. The others are the trade names used by different manufacturers.

    Below are the names of currently prescribed NSAIDs. People who take one of these in tablet / capsule form on a long term basis may be suitable for the SCOT study.

    NSAIDs

    Aceclofenac
    Acemetacin
    Arthrotec
    Dexibuprofen
    Diclofenac Sodium
    Etodolac
    Fenbufen
    Fenoprofen
    Flurbiprofen
    Ibuprofen
    Indometacin
    Ketoprofen
    Mefenamic Acid
    Meloxicam
    Nabumetone
    Naproxen
    Piroxicam
    Sulindac
    Tenoxicam
    Tiaprofenic Acid

    Cox-2 inhibitors

    There are only two of these currently in use:

    Celecoxib (Celebrex)
    Etoricoxib (Arcoxia)

    If you have been taking celecoxib or etoricoxib in the last 3 months you will not be able to take part in the SCOT study at present.
